Zero impact on replication setup

Client

The client is a global financial technology company headquartered in England. They provide a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for retail banking, transaction services, lending, treasury, and capital markets, serving banks and financial institutions worldwide.

Project Context

The client was running a self-hosted Elasticsearch cluster with version 7.17.10 and had enabled uni-directional cross-cluster replication (CCR) between primary and DR clusters. They required a version upgrade during a scheduled downtime window with minimal impact to integrated systems.

Challenges

- Complexity of multi-node CCR configuration
- Sensitive integration with Azure Blob snapshots
- Need for seamless rollback in case of failure

Solution

- Designed a detailed upgrade and rollback strategy
- Executed rolling upgrade on the 5-node cluster
- Validated replication, snapshots, and licensing post-upgrade

Project Objectives

- Upgrade Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Azure Repository plugin from 7.17.10 to 7.17.15
- Maintain existing CCR and licensing configurations
- Execute with minimal disruption and full rollback capability

Solution Delivery

SquareShift conducted a structured rolling upgrade of Elasticsearch and its components, ensuring the Azure storage integration, CCR setup, and Kibana licensing remained intact.

Testimonial
