How SquareShift delivered it.
Project context
Over four days, SquareShift designed, deployed and operationalized a production-grade Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes environment. It covered monitoring, lifecycle management, security and cross-cluster search, plus guidance on migrating from Solr.
Project objectives
Build secure, scalable Elasticsearch on Kubernetes.
Plan Solr migration, and set up monitoring, lifecycle policies and security.
Challenges
Pods were not scheduling correctly across role-based node pools.
Snapshot restores failed, and slow query logs were not reaching Elasticsearch.
Solution delivery
SquareShift deployed ECK on GKE with master, hot and cold nodes and Kibana, then validated node placement rules.
Corrected pod scheduling, then validated and optimized snapshot and restore.
Built slow-log dashboards, drill-downs and health alerts, ingesting logs through Logstash.
Designed security: field and document-level access, API keys and SAML.
Shared lifecycle, scaling and upgrade guidance, plus a roadmap.
Final outcomes
Fully functional ECK environment established across clusters.
Snapshot/restore process validated and optimized.
Slow logs & monitoring dashboards operational.
Security model designed for compliance & access control.
Roadmap created for scaling, observability, and fleet adoption.
A cluster is not ready until its snapshot and restore process has been validated and optimized.
