How SquareShift delivered it.
Project Context
The client wanted searchable history and trends, and less manual monitoring, for its applications. SquareShift introduced Elastic to add log and metric search, APM, ML anomaly detection and trend-based alerts.
Project Objectives
Add searchable logs, APM and trends.
Reduce manual monitoring with ML anomaly detection and trend-based alerting rules.
Challenges
The existing tool was limited in log search, APM and trend-based alerting across applications.
Dozens of applications and thousands of edge hosts needed custom KPIs across two data centers.
Solution Delivery
SquareShift onboarded 30–35 applications onto Elastic, with custom KPIs and APM, across three clusters: control, app and infra.
Built 28 one-view application dashboards backed by 70–80 supporting ones.
Added ML anomaly detection jobs and synthetic checks across the applications.
Set up trend-based alerting, averaging 80–100 alert rules per application.
Used cross-cluster search to give one view across clusters.
Outcome
30–35 applications are onboarded with custom KPIs and APM. 4.5–5K edge hosts connect to the platform. 100+ dashboards run across 30–40 Kibana spaces.
One view across clusters only works when every application reports into the same platform.
